SECTION XI-ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

1. STARTER SOLENOID (RELAY) 03-52
(black tip), and nut on lower post of relay.
1-1 Removing Starter Relay
E. Install white-striped red lead, lookwasher, positive battery lead (red tip) and nut on upper post of relay.
A. Disconnect battery leads from battery.
B. Remove nuts, leads, and lockwashers from terminal posts of starter relay.
F. Connect battery leads to battery terminals.
2. CHOKE SOLENOID 03-51
C. Remove two (2) screws securing starter relay to starter bracket and remove starter relay (see figure 1).
2-1 Removing Choke Solenoid
A. Disconnect battery leads from battery.
B. Remove carburetor as outlined in Section V, paragraph 1-1.
C. Remove puddle drain hose from fitting on underside of crankcase cover.
D. Remove nut and green lead from post on side of choke solenoid.
E. Remove two (2) screws securing solenoid bracket to crankcase cover. See figure 2.

1-2 Installing Starter Relay
A. Use two (2) screws to secure starter relay to bosses on starter bracket.
B. Install lockwasher, black striped yellow lead, and nut on port post of relay.

C. Install lockwasher, black lead, and nut on starboard post of relay.
2-2 Installing Choke Solenoid
A. Install choke solenoid (terminal post at one o'clock), solenoid
D. Install lockwasher, read lead
